Karate Classes

Our system of freestyle karate is very popular. Freestyle karate is self- defence orientated and can be practised by all age groups regardles of fitness levers

satorishido Karate Classes have grown considerabley over the years. There are a number of classes each day for different age groups. Satorishido also run classes throughout the local cummunity in places like St.Combs and New Deer.

Karate Instructors

Albert Ross (Club Chairman), is the founding member of The Satorishido Martials Association. Albert is a 3rd Dan Black Belt with 35 years experience in various disciplines of martial arts.

Albert recently won the citizen of the year for Fraserburgh and the surrounding areas for his contribution to the community, an award which was well deserved to a dedicated professional.

Calum MacDonald

Calum "Mac" MacDonald has a black belt in kickboxing as well as karate and has helped establish the Satorishido Martial Arts Association to be the most successful in the area.

Mac has fought many times at our kickboxing shows and recently retired from the ring at the last show in aberdeen and won the bout by stoppage, a fitting end to for a great character.

Mac now concentrates on refereeing at the shows as well as his karate instructor duties at the Association headquarters at James Ramsey Park, fraserburgh.

James started his training in the martial arts in 1998 at the age of 8 where he joined Sensei Albert Ross's Karate class in Fraserburgh.

James trained very hard and obtained his black belt on the 21st November 2004. Sensei Ross commented that from the very start he recognised the talent James had and knew he was a potential black belt. the training over the next 6 years was hard but James proved he was up to the challenge.

What does the future hold for James? Well, James has alreadt started to assist in teaching lower grade belt classes and at the age of 16 is on his way to achieving his 1st Dan in Karate and hold a position on one of the Satorishido Martial Arts committee groups representing the interest of the junior members.

James has lso started training in Kickboxing and is hoping to reach black belt level. Sensei Ross has said this young man may be a potential international champion in the future and i have a great deal of respect for James who has shown not only he has got the physical attributes for this demanding sport but also the mental attitude.

Douglas Morrison

Black Belt 1st Dan in kickboxing and Karate

Douglas Morrison started training with Sensei Ross at the age of ten years old and is one of our instrucors at our Ellon & Aberdeen Satorishido establishments.

Now at the age of 23 he has achieved considerable status in Martial Arts. In addition to Instructing in Karate and kickboxing he has been W.K.N Intercontinental Amateur Champion.

Lee Taylor

Black Belt in Kickboxing

Lee is one of our instrucutors at our ellon club along with douglas morrison. Lee is an important member of our team and is always willing to pass on his knowledge to his students.

Lee has also fought at one of our shows and was called into action on the night of a fight when a fighter didnt turn up and did really well.

Our Association is recognised by the BKA and WKN and is affiliated to the Aberdeenshire Sports Council. All instructors are fully licensed, insured and vetted
